Link Project Proposal

I am interested in becoming an engineer. The first process of understanding how to design is to understand past engineering decisions and understanding how things work. That is why I was interested in interning at Handle Bars. One of the things that I believe I want to design is dirt bikes and is why I became interested in learning more about the engineering make up of dirt bikes through Handle Bars. Handle Bars is a repair shop that fixes and sells dirt bikes, motorcycles, snowmobiles, and other various motor toys. My company’s goal is to sell and repair motor toys to the public. In my internship I am planning on helping Handle Bars with various projects while learning about the engineering side of dirt bikes. After my interview Handle Bars so graciously accepted me as an intern.
 

My mentors are various people that work on the repair of bikes and any other coworker at Handle Bars. Doing this I am hoping that I can help Handle Bars in any arias needed and gain an understanding of dirt bikes. My mentors can show me the mechanics of dirt bikes so that I may have a better understanding about how they work and why engineers designed the bikes the way they have.

From this I am hoping I gain career experience of understanding the basic of engineering and mechanics. During my interview one of my possible mentors Brian said by doing this I will have a better understanding of engineering and basis of how things are designed giving me a stronger background as I go into college to learn engineering. Brian said this because he did something similar and sounded excited in helping me understand the mechanics of dirt bikes. Bye doing this I will have a stronger understanding about how every piece in a dirt bike plays an important role in making it run smoothly and powerfully giving me a stronger understanding about the engineering of creating a machine.
 

My project will consist of the disassembly and assembly of my dirt bike that is a 125 2strock and throughout the video give brief voice overs about how certain parts work. This is relevant to my internship because it shows my understanding of the mechanics of dirt bikes. Bye doing this I gain a strong understanding about the aspect of engineering and how the structure of parts creates enough force to move the dirt bike and a person.
I will be shooting this video in my garage and use my computer program to create the video. I am planning on interning before the provided time in March so that I can have a strong understanding of the mechanics and will start creating the video while interning during the three weeks provided for Link. I wish to be finished with my recording in a week and a half and have the other time be dedicated to refining it.
